About Me:: I am a singer/songwriter from St. Louis! I play the keys (PiAnO) and looove it! I am aspiring to understand whats nessesary to produce my own music! I like to get personal so talk to me! Check out my myspace www.myspace.com/maggieholter and ADD ME! My mind thinks in song lyrics I swear, poems in general! I am in the midst of recording my own stuff - instead of being the girl that helped everyone else out with the type of vocals they want. So if you listen to my myspace please come again, because the style you will hear soon is MY OWN! I grew up in a family of musicians everyone singing and playing together and my dad was a DJ for and oldies radio station so believe it or not (as someone who didn't grow up watching TV) and spent alot of time in my room with my moms records alone, I didn't know pop music at all untill I was in middle school so my heart and mystyle is derived from the love I have developed for OLD SCHOOL MUSIC, and I adore jazzzzy music new and old! I love music everything about it, and I love insturmental music however I think I naturally listen to vocals because singing is my first love so even if the background music is not so great I am victim to being hooked if I like the persons lyrics or voice (yeah yeah even if they didn't write them themsleves), and to switch it if I don't like their voice or can't understand the lyrics even if its the best music ever I most likely won't get to into it! I love beats too, techno, trance, hip-hop and I love to light candles and sit back with some sweet sounds playing in the background! I am about music with emotion in it, the kind you can feel that gives you goosebumps or sends you into that creative whirlwind where it's like your life is a soundtrack and this is the perfect song for the moment! I think this site is an excellent source and was so happy to have heard about it! So I can't wait to hear everyone's stuff!

Influences:: Jewel, Imogen Heap, ALL old timers, like Ella and Frank Sinatra, Jamie Cullum, Michael Buble, Sarah McLachlan, Diana Krall, Erin Bode, Nickle Creek, Fiona Apple, Ginny Owens, Jack Johnson, Jane Monheit, Carol King, Mandy Moore, Kurt Elling, Michelle Branch, Missy Higgins, Ani DiFranco, Norah Jones, Rilo Kiley, Sarah Brightman, Shawn Colvin, Simon and Garfunkel, Vanessa Carlton, Chrissy Depauw .... this list is so long, and I only wrote mostly women, but so many men influence my music too.
