Whats New With D-Sew
Female Beat Makers Interview with Diane.
How do you describe your style?
- I would describe my style as being deeply melodic, a picture painted by each note which self explains how the story unfolds, the creator's mood, the feeling, the vibe, the light at the end of the tunnel. Being exposed to many genre's of music from across the world at an early age, my style would be a willingness to experiment and try something un-common from selecting the instruments used, right down to the way that a melody is contructed and chopped. Having a real passion for Hip hop music and it's foundation, you would hear typically a hip hop beat accompanying the melody to create uniqueness and individuality within my style.
What are your main inspirations for music?
- Being able to create something from experiences that i've been in and my surroundings. Inspiring to me would also be the evolving music scene and adapting to it ensuring that I always keep creating, keeping things fresh and new.
Favorite musical sound?
- Being exposed to many different sounds of various genres, my musical archives consists of orchestral, global, classical indian acoustic sounds, electronic and authentic hip hop sampled sounds. I try to incoroprate it all whatever sounds right and fits the type of beat im making.
What was the First album brought?
- The first tape that was bought for me by my Dad was Micheal Jackson's 'Bad'. I was 9 at the time if I remember correctly.
What else influences you other than music?
- Other than music, my family influence me, my Mum. I've seen her go through alot and suffered for her kids, so for that reason she inspires me to go on and make something positive out of my life.
When is your favorite time to make music?
- I don't have a time. I just create when I catch a spare moment to myself. If im booked in for a studio session, even though being confined to a set time I don't see it as that and try to relax as much as possible. If I have an idea, and im on the move I would record it into my phone or write it down and expand on that the next time im back in my pad and hit my keys or MPC2500 pads.
What emotions do you manly feel when you make your music
- I create music based on feelings. You would usually hear alot of calm, warmth and alot of energy in my music.
Your main drive to do what you do.
- A real and genuine love for music and hopefully being able to touch people with it.
How long have you been producing, singing, writing music for?
- I have seriously been producing for 2 years now making beats on various software platforms, and musica equipment. But I have been composing my own melodic compositions since I was 15. As soon as I started writing poetry at 12, I started humming melodies and stated singing.

Currently, focusing on my material, creating and building an archive of material towards my first album.
