Female Beatmakers is the brainchild of producer and radio Dj Miss Laidlaw also known as the Beatmaking Housewife. The website is a platform used to help facilitate learning and development to women who are intrigued with the idea of doing male dominated roles within the music industry. It was born from the concept that women where underexposed and unnoticed in skills like music production and sound engineering.

Female Beatmakers started off as a website in November 2007 to help women in a number of different genres and musical skills from DJs to Songwriters, Producers to Musicians and Singers. The website has interviews, links to record labels, forums, blogs, music shops, downloads, and currently in the process of building Female Beatmakers Radio and Female Beatmakers Online Store to give the members of the site a shop front to sell their music

Our philosophy is that women need hobbies as a way of building confidence and a sense of purpose and women shouldn’t shy away from doing what is seen as male dominated because they do not see any female role models within it. The website aims to make all women role models by giving them an incentive to work and share information to one another and get their finished product heard.

This community of females continues to grow each day with a mixture of new starters and already established acts.  Female Beatmakers hopes to bridge the gap in the industry and make music an incentive for young talented women, whether they want to pursue it as a hobby or a career.

Every year the founder organises a charity event to help raise money for good causes and spread the word that Female Beatmakers are out there and that we will continue supporting others in need.
